JHS Capital Advisors, the Tampa investment firm recently launched by John Sykes, will open its headquarters this November on the 14th floor of the M&I Bank Plaza office tower on E Kennedy Boulevard in downtown Tampa.

JHS is subleasing 20,000 square feet from the Fowler White Boggs law firm and expects to open with 45 employees. The space can accommodate up to 90.

JHS spokeswoman Eileen Canady said Sykes, who founded Tampa's Sykes Enterprises, had considered Tampa's West Shore area but thought it was the right thing to do to bring jobs and grow in the city's downtown area.

"We believe it is important to stay true to your beginnings, and I can think of no better way to renew our commitment to the Tampa area," Sykes said in a statement.

JHS currently operates from temporary space in the cylindrical "Beer Can" building downtown bearing the Sykes Enterprises name. JHS Capital Advisors operates in about 10 states and has 100 investment advisers.
