Couple promotes healing power of salt at facility

WESLEY CHAPEL — Danielle Howard found herself in Ocala when she became ill with sinusitis.

Seeking an alternative to medications, she decided to try a place that offered salt therapy, which provides similar benefits to those found in the salt caves in Europe. After one salt session, her breathing greatly improved and she became intrigued by the healing power of salt.

"I'm very into doing things as natural as you can, the way the body is supposed to," Howard said.

Flash forward four years and now Danielle Howard, and her husband Joey, have opened The Salt Room in Wesley Chapel. The Salt Room offers halotherapy, or salt therapy, which uses salt to treat upper and lower respiratory conditions such as allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, colds, and flu. It is also effective on skin conditions and ear infections.

During halotherapy, clients spend 45 minutes in a salt covered room while relaxing in a zero gravity recliner. "We pump in pharmaceutical grade salt through our halogenerator that pulverizes it into these micro particles," said Danielle Howard, co-owner. "That's what you breathe in for the 45 minutes."

The salt acts like an expectorant, helping to clear up mucus and improve lung function while killing harmful bacteria and soothing the respiratory system. Salt therapy is effective for all ages, and there is a separate salt room just for children.

"I'm already seeing lives changed," said Danielle Howard.

The Salt Room also offers facials, massages, lactic peels, waxing, lash and brow tinting, and organic hair color.

The Salt Room is located at 2718 Windguard Circle, Suite 102. For more information, call (813) 501-8578, or visit saltroomwesleychapel.com.
