Daily Q&A: What are gold parties and are they a scam?

What are "Gold Parties" and are they scams?

Gold parties are held like Tupperware parties, where you sell your gold. The parties have become increasing popular as ways to get some money during these tough times.

Some may offer you legitimate prices for your gold but others have been known to be scams and give you pennies on the dollar.

See eHow.com's report and recommendations on the issue at: http://www.ehow.com/how_5151368_avoid-gold-party-scams.html.

The basic recommendations from eHow are to get:

• References about the person/group hosting the party.

• Have your jewelry appraised by a professional before selling at a party or to any other source.
