The shuttered Spring Air Mattress factory in Tampa is bouncing back into production.

Solstice Sleep Products, which began leasing 90,000 square feet of industrial space at the sprawling South Falkenburg Road location this fall, has already hired 25 employees and plans to hire up to 60 more within eight months. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the facility at 500 S. Falkenburg Road.

Solstice, which is based in Columbus, Ohio, had considered various Florida cities for an expansion of its bedding manufacturing. The company said it chose the Tampa site because of both the suitable production space and proximity to Tampa International Airport.

Spring Air shut down production in May of 2009, putting more than 150 people out of work. Some of those former employees have been hired by Solstice.
