PLANT CITY — Plant City's economic development is picking up. Dart Container, a manufacturing and distribution company for food service packaging, plans to hire 35 people to accommodate its recent expansion. The company, already with 375 local employees, moved into a 77,500-square-foot warehouse this week on County Line Road.

The expansion filled the remaining space in the warehouse, prompting Central Florida Development to begin construction on a distribution center park that will create close to 1 million square feet. Construction on the first 35,000-square-foot building will begin in a month.

"The city's pro-business attitude and great location have helped drive our success in leasing our buildings," Richard LeFrois, CFD president, said. "We are confident the momentum will continue and are already seeing significant interest in our other business parks along I-4."
