Ex-Progress Energy Florida CEO Jeff Lyash exits Duke with $7.3 million

Jeff Lyash, who resigned from Duke Energy at the end of last year, received total 2012 compensation of more than $7.3 million.

Lyash, 51, served as Progress Energy Florida CEO from 2006 until 2009, after which he was promoted to Progress Energy's North Carolina headquarters. He served as executive vice president of energy supply for Progress Energy and for Duke Energy, which bought Progress last year.

Lyash, who first announced Progress Energy's plans in 2006 to build a new nuclear power plant in Levy County north of Tampa Bay, received $259,481 in salary (for about half of the year), $3.2 million in cash severance and $2.9 million in accelerated vesting of stock awards on his departure, according to an SEC filing by Charlotte-based Duke Energy.
