First Sundial tenant — Diamonds Direct — to open its doors

ST. PETERSBURG — The new Sundial shopping complex is set to welcome its first tenant today.

After an extensive renovation and a name change from BayWalk, the first shop to open is Diamonds Direct Fine Jewelers, which has been in St. Petersburg for 30 years. The store's new space in the downtown complex will include 18-foot-high saltwater fish tanks with submerged jewelry.

Other tenants, confirmed by the retailers themselves, includes Ruth's Chris Steak House, Sea Salt restaurant, Marilyn Monroe Spa, Tracy Negoshian, Chico's and White House Black Market.

Based on the average size of these stores, they account for about half of Sundial's 71,000 square feet, not including the Muvico theater, which was purchased in November by Carmike Cinemas. It will retain its name.
