Florida expected to grow at fastest pace in seven years

Florida's economy is expected to kick off the new year by growing at the fastest pace in seven years, according to a Federal Reserve index released Thursday.

The Philadelphia branch of the Fed — which projects short-term, state-by-state economic growth — predicts Florida's economy will grow by about 1.7 percent during the next six months. Though a slower pace than some other states, such as Nevada and Alabama, it would be the strongest growth outlook for Florida since August 2005. Only one state, Wyoming, is projected to decline in the next six months.
