Food allergy treatment company Aimmune Therapeutics is moving into its newly completed manufacturing facility in Clearwater at 5733 Myerlake Circle in the ICOT Center. The Brisbane, Calif.-based company is currently working on a treatment in clinical trials for life-threatening peanut allergies.
"Accidental exposure to traces of peanut due to cross-contact during food preparation and food manufacturing are hard to avoid and could lead to fatal food-induced anaphylaxis," the company said in a release.
Half of the 40,000-square-foot facility will be used for manufacturing space for their peanut allergy treatment and future products, with other space devoted to a warehouse and a clinical suite. The company expects that by early 2018, the facility will be able to produce 450 million capsules of the peanut allergy drug per year.
Aimmune Therapeutics, a publicly traded company, first announced its plans to expand to Clearwater in the summer of 2015.
