Frontier extends toll-free customer service line to weekends

TAMPA — Frontier Communications is extending the hours of a special customer service line to weekends to deal with lingering issues from its takeover of Verizon landline phone, TV and Internet assets.

Customers may call (888) 457-4110 toll free weekdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., the company said Monday.

Numerous Frontier customers have complained about long outages and other service difficulties since April 1, when Frontier took over Verizon's assets. Frontier officials said customers who had problems represent less than half of 1 percent of the 535,000 Florida customers served by the company.

After prodding from Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Frontier announced an "action plan" last week to deal with problems connected to the transfer from Verizon. The special customer service line was created as part of that plan and will be in operation for 30 days.
