AAA Auto Club South, 1410 Pinehurst Drive, at Spring Hill Drive and Commercial Way, Spring Hill, will have a Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
The event is free and open to members and nonmembers. Free refreshments and door prizes will be available, as well as a chance to win a generator.
Also attending will be representatives from the Pasco, Hernando and Citrus county emergency management teams, the American Red Cross, the Humane Society of the Nature Coast, Spring Hill Fire Rescue, travel safety, Life Lock, ADT Alarms and Sea Tow.

The Hernando Builders Association will have its annual Summer Night Explosion, formerly known as the Truck Night Explosion, at 6 p.m. today at St. Anthony Church's Heffernan Hall, 20428 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville.
The event is open to the pubic, as well as HBA members. This year's major sponsor is Senica Air Conditioning. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Hernando County.
Tickets are $60 and include dinner for two and entry into a drawing. Prizes will be awarded throughout the night, with the grand prize ticket being the last one drawn. Grand prize choices include: a 2010 Nissan Versa from Crystal Nissan of Crystal River; a 2010 Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster from Crystal River Harley-Davidson; 2010 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 ATV package from Adventure Cycle Center of Brooksville, 2010 Kawasaki STX-15F PWC package (personal water craft) from Adventure Cycle Center of Brooksville, or $10,000 cash.
A maximum of 400 tickets will be sold. RSVP is mandatory, and seating is limited.

Hernando Biz ... Net-Connecting for You, a networking group, will meet at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Golf Course Lane, Spring Hill.

The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce will offer a two-day workshop, "Maximizing Your Time," from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Sept. 9 at the chamber's training room, 15588 Aviation Loop Drive, south of Brooksville.
Participants will gain practical tips to help assess their time-management effectiveness and create a personal plan for improving their skills in key areas. Each participant will receive his or her own personalized "time mastery profile."
The workshop will be conducted by Lori Bainum, a corporate trainer specializing in communication, team building, leadership and motivational speaking.
The course is open to the public. The cost is $99 for chamber members and $129 for nonmembers. A certificate of completion will be awarded to those participants who complete both days of the workshop.
