Holiday shopping begins earlier than ever this year

The Thanksgiving shopping rush begins earlier than ever this year. Here's a guide to when some of the area's major retailers open.

Thanksgiving (TODAY)

6 a.m. Kmart

7 a.m. Big Lots

9 a.m. Old Navy

9 p.m. Toys "R" Us

10 p.m. Walmart

10 p.m. Some stores at Ellenton Premium Outlets, with the rest following at midnight

Black Friday

12:01 a.m. Macy's, Kohl's, Target, Best Buy and Beall's, plus many mall stores including most Gap, Hot Topic, Old Navy, Aéropostale, Express, GameStop and Wet Seal stores

4 a.m. JCPenney, Sears, Michaels crafts, Dick's Sporting Goods Brandon and all other stores at Gulf View Square and Tyrone Square malls

5 a.m. Kmart, Dick's Sporting Goods at Citrus Park, Sports Authority, Sam's Club, Home Depot, Lowe's, Burlington Coat Factory and all stores that didn't open earlier at WestShore Plaza and Westfield Brandon mall

5:30 a.m. RadioShack

6 a.m. Big Lots, Office Depot, Staples, Stein Mart, Disney, Gap and, at International Plaza, Hot Topic and Banana Republic

7 a.m. BJ's Wholesale Club, PetSmart and stores that didn't open earlier at Westfield Citrus Park and Westfield Countryside malls

8 a.m. Dillard's, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and all stores at Shops at Wiregrass and International Plaza that did not open earlier

9 a.m. Neiman Marcus

10 a.m. Nordstrom Rack and Ikea

    WCI Communities, Lennar's high-end subsidiary,has paid $2.5 million for 2.35 acres in the Westshore Marina District for 35 townhomes. WCI is under contract  to buy an additional 9.5 acres.
