CARROLLWOOD — Will Dieterich grew up in Tampa playing sports, and has played professional soccer as a goalkeeper in many countries around the world.

As an athlete, he started taking Epsom salt baths to help his body recover. After some friends told Dieterich about a flotation center in south Florida, he tried it out and ultimately decided to open a location in Carrollwood.

Tampa Floats Wellness Center is slated to open later this month. The center includes two float pods which are filled with ten inches of water that is dissolved with 1,000 pounds of medical grade Epsom salt.

"You're floating completely; you're completely weightless," said Dieterich, co-owner. "It takes all the pressure off all of your joints and decompresses the spine."

The water is neither hot nor cold, but set to body temperature.

"The goal is to have it be the exact temperature of your body so that you don't really feel the water," said Dieterich.

While some athletes may use it as a recovery tool, others use flotation therapy to relax, relieve stress or meditate.

"It's the perfect relaxed setting," said Deiterich.

Tampa Floats Wellness Center also offers a full spectrum infrared sauna which promotes natural healing. NormaTec Pulse Pro Massage is available as well.

Tampa Floats Wellness Center is located in the Grand Plaza at 14405 N Dale Mabry Highway. For more information, call (813) 279-8899, or visit tampafloats.com.
