New Orleans firm takes over Ruden McClosky offices in St. Petersburg, Sarasota

Citing the tough economy, Fort Lauderdale-based Ruden McClosky said it will hand off its St. Petersburg and Sarasota offices and their combined staff of about 20 attorneys to the New Orleans law firm of Adams and Reese.

The cost-cutting enables Ruden McClosky to concentrate its regional resources on its 25-lawyer Tampa office, which will serve clients throughout the Gulf Coast region. The cuts mean the law firm will shrink from about 150 to 130 attorneys and from 11 to nine offices in the state.

For Adams and Reese, the addition of the St. Petersburg and Sarasota attorneys establishes the Louisiana firm's first toehold in the Florida market.
