FINANCE DIRECTOR NAMED: John Ancona was recently promoted to finance director at Sun Toyota in Holiday. Ancona has worked in the dealership's finance department for five years. As director, he will be responsible for department staffing, training and operations, as well as cultivating lender relationships.

EXCELLENCE IN NURSING AWARDS: Medical Center of Trinity recently recognized two nurses for excellence — registered nurses Kristin Talbot and Lindsay Wendt. The awards, established by HCA to honor outstanding nurses who demonstrate excellence in professional mentoring and compassionate care, were given at the hospital's Awards of Distinction Celebration.

SECOND CAREER WORKSHOP: Retirees interested in starting their own business are welcome to attend a workshop, "2nd Career: What Will You Do?" from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Rasmussen College, 8661 Citizens Drive, New Port Richey. Seminars to be presented include "Your Personal Skills Assessment" and "Understanding the Choices for Your Next Chapter." COTTAGE INDUSTRY EXPO: The University of Florida/IFAS Pasco, Hillsborough and Pinellas county extension offices will host the first Tampa Bay Cottage Industry Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 30 at Wiregrass Ranch High School, 2909 Mansfield Blvd., Wesley Chapel. The expo will offer practical education sessions taught by farmers, cooperative extension office experts and industry representatives. The goal is to provide attendees with information they can apply to improve their small or beginning agriculture operations. Sessions will cover agriculture production, legal and regulatory considerations and marketing. Topics will include fruits and veggies, hydroponics and livestock. The expo will also feature a trade show. Food trucks will be available. The cost is $30 per person. Pre-registration is required. APPRECIATION BANQUET: The Pasco Economic Development Council will have its annual appreciation banquet on Sept. 8 at Saddlebrook Resort, 5700 Saddlebrook Way, Wesley Chapel. The trade show will begin at 5 p.m.; the dinner and program will be at 7 p.m. Local business and community leaders will be recognized for their contributions to growing and strengthening the local economy. The event will include an awards ceremony, an industry showcase and a brief report on the county's economic development progress. GOLF TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER: Wells Fargo Advisors of Trinity will host its third annual golf tournament to benefit Gulfside Hospice at 11 a.m. Oct. 24 at Cypress Run Golf Club, 2669 St. Andrews Blvd., Tarpon Springs, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration for the four-person scramble is $125 for individual golfers and $500 per foursome, which includes lunch and dinner.
