Pasco Regional Medical Center has been awarded the "Center of Distinction" award for the hospital's Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine in recognition of its high patient satisfaction rates, exceptional healing results, and outstanding clinical outcomes over the past 12 months. The center is located at 13100 Fort King Road off State Road 52, Dade City.
The prestigious honor was awarded by the center's partner in wound healing, Diversified Clinical Services.
Since this is the second consecutive year that the center has earned the award, the center also received the "Robert A. Warriner, M.D., Center of Excellence" award, given to centers with 24 consecutive months of high patient satisfaction rates, exceptional healing results and outstanding clinical outcomes, and is named after renowned wound care expert Dr. Robert Warriner, chief medical officer for DCS.
Pasco Regional Medical Center chose to partner with DCS to ensure quality in providing specialized treatments to their patients. DCS, located in Jacksonville, is the world's largest wound care management company, with more than 300 hospital partners.

Leadership Pasco, a development program that explores critical issues through a series of seminars and hands-on activities, is now taking applications for the Class of 2011.
The program is open to individuals interested in community involvement and in perpetuating the prosperity of Pasco County.
The program includes topics such as leadership skills, the history of Pasco County, education, health care/social services, law enforcement/criminal justice, economic and business development, government and infrastructure.

Who's news
Kyle Ryan Kiper and Sandy Barley are the newest staff members at the Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind, 8610 Galen Wilson Blvd., Port Richey.
Kiper's mission is to advance opportunities for job seekers and employers to benefit from the job-ready workforce of individuals who are visually impaired. The first phase of this project is the implementation of a Job Readiness Program, "Getting Ready for Work," in cooperation with the State of Florida Division of Blind Services and funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Kiper comes to Lighthouse from a director's position at Lions World Services for the Blind. Prior to LWSB, he worked as a state/federal certified rehabilitation counselor in Arkansas, Idaho, Pennsylvania and Florida, where he specialized in counseling individuals with visual, hearing and mental health impairments.
Kiper holds a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Arkansas Little Rock and undergraduate degrees from Arkansas State University and Sunderland University in England.
Barley will serve as the public awareness manager. The newly created position is charged with building public awareness of the Lighthouse and services offered in the service area of Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties.
Barley is a resident of New Port Richey and received his bachelor's degree in marketing and accounting from the University of North Alabama. He will be visiting service clubs, civic organizations, assistance providers and employers to explain the services and programs available to visually impaired and blind residents of all ages and at no cost.
