InterSecurities brokerage merges with sister company, keeps St. Petersburg headquarters

Two sister companies owned by insurance giant Aegon are merging and making St. Petersburg their headquarters.

St. Petersburg-based InterSecurities Inc. is merging with Los Angeles affiliate Transamerica Financial Advisors Inc., with the new, full-service broker/dealer taking the Transamerica name. The combined company will have more than 1,800 registered representatives and $15 billion in client accounts.

"With this structure, TFA will be better positioned to take advantage of opportunities that emerge as a result of the current market turmoil," said Seth Miller, who is overseeing the consolidation.
