TAMPA — A power outage that left some 6,000 Tampa Electric Co. customers without electricity Thursday night was being fixed, according to the utility's website.
The outage appeared to be centered south of Beach Park, south of Kennedy Boulevard. Tampa police were sending available officers to direct traffic at several signals.
The utility's website had shown that more than 6,000 customers were affected, but later reported that fewer than 1,000 were still without power.
The cause of the outage was not immediately available Thursday evening. A company spokeswoman did not return messages.
The company's website estimated power would be restored by midnight.
