Put out the welcome mat — more people are on their way to Tampa Bay.
Judging from loan applications, the bay area ranks sixth among the 10 metro areas where prospective home buyers are most likely to move in the next few months. Colorado Springs is No. 1, followed by Manchester-Nashua, New Hampshire; El Paso, Texas; Washington D.C. and Orlando, according to ATTOM Data Solutions "Pre-Mover Housing Index.’’
Among metro areas where people are least likely to move: Cleveland, Ohio and Rochester, New York top the list.
"Markets with a high pre-mover index tend to be in areas where homes are still somewhat reasonably priced and have a growing job market, allowing for greater upward mobility," said Daren Blomquist, ATTOM’s senior vice president. "Markets with a low pre-mover index tend to be in areas with a struggling job market or with home prices that are out of reach for the average wage earner."
