A "one of a kind'' estate on 4 acres in Belleair just hit the market for $6.995 million.

Built in 2002 on the original site of the Florida Gulf Coast Art Center, the 11,000-square-foot mansion surrounded by century-old oaks is among the priciest properties for sale in the bay area. Listing agent Zach Zehnder of Keller Williams St. Pete Realty calls it "one of the best deals'' given the quality of construction and the huge lot size.

"It would be nearly impossible to acquire 4 acres of contiguous land in the heart of Belleair,'' he said Thursday.

Though not on the water, the estate has "water features'' including ponds and what is described as an "oversized'' pool with multiple fountains. Also on the gated grounds are a tennis court, shuffleboard court, outdoor bar and a glass-walled gymnasium with sauna and steam room.

Inside, the two-story home has four bedrooms, 61/2 baths, a large aquarium, a media room and a seven-car garage.

Capping it all off is a slate roof that cost more than $1 million and is similar to those on Parisian buildings dating back three and four centuries, Zehnder said. All of the exterior walls are made of concrete while the interior walls are reinforced with metal studs.

"It's a generational house,'' he said. "It's meant to last forever.''

"The owners have recently decided to travel the world on their large yacht and decided to sell the estate,'' Zehnder said.

Only four homes in the Tampa Bay area currently are priced higher. The most expensive is a $14.3 million Tarpon Springs spread that includes its own Main Street with movie theater and ice cream parlor.
