Beware of the buzzards circling the Tampa Bay area foreclosure rescue market. Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum warned homeowners hard pressed by the real estate downturn to beware of fraudulent foreclosure rescue schemes. "As we see the number of foreclosures continue to increase, we have unfortunately also seen the number of mortgage-related scams grow," McCollum said last week. Right on cue, the attorney general's office sued three Broward County companies, accusing them of ripping off hundreds of thousands of dollars in home equity from homeowners they promised to help.
