Best deals in Tampa Bay for Aug. 9-15: Save money at Publix, Winn-Dixie and Walmart

I hope you’ve been holding on your coupon fliers.

Remember not to throw those suckers out if you plan to check in every week to see how best to save. I have a binder and a small accordion-style expanding file I take with me to the store once the coupons are clipped.

My friends may laugh. But who’s laughing once I’m getting fancy $6-a-pint ice cream for less than $2?

Let’s get started.

Winn-Dixie

(Note: nearly of all of these deals rely on you having the SEG Rewards card, which you swipe at the register to receive the sale prices and collect points.)

If you prefer Silk Almond or Soy milk to dairy, there is a two for $5 deal on them just this Saturday and Sunday. Usually those are priced are $3.99 each. The rest of the week they will be two for $6, which is still lower than you’re likely to find them anywhere else right now.

How about some Kellogg’s cereal to go with that milk? They’re on BOGO (buy one, get one). There’s a manufacturer coupon for $2 off four boxes that was inside last week’s RetailMeNot flier. It’s also on coupons.com.

If you’re into planning ahead for any bad weather this hurricane season, this week is BOGO on 12-packs of Zephyrhills water.

Chex Mix are also on BOGO and there’s a coupons.com coupon for 50 cents off two. Pop-Tarts of all flavors are three for $5 and coupons.com comes in clutch again with $2 off if you don’t still have it from last week’s RetailMeNot.

If you want to stock up on some Del Monte fruit bowls they will be $2.69 each, down 30 cents. But you can save another $1 on two with a manufacturer’s coupon from the SmartSource that came with July 29’s Sunday Tampa Bay Times.

Annie’s mac and cheese is on BOGO, and you can save 50 cents on two with another coupons.com deal. And if you’re looking for an easy meal the kiddos will enjoy, W-D also has BOGO on Tyson chicken nuggets, patties and some tenders. I couldn’t find a coupon to match the deal, but with some of those bags up to $6.99, it’s a good price for two.

Publix

Halo Top ice cream, which can be a bit pricey for a pint, is on sale for three for $10. (You should be able to grab just one for $3.33, though.) The most recent Sunday Tampa Bay Times has a SmartSource coupon for $1.50 off the low-calorie treat means you’re paying $1.83. The coupon has a limit of two per transaction, so you can possibly get two pints at that price.

Another good find: Betty Crocker brand fruit snacks are BOGO (that includes Fruit by the Foot and Gushers). Pair that with the 50 cents off two boxes SmartSource coupon from the Sunday paper for a steal. Your total should be about $1.30 for each box.

A healthier find that still works great for school lunches: Del Monte fruit cups and bowls. These seem to be marked down at just about every major store this week, but I think Publix is your best bet for the cheapest price.

Their green flier (comes in the Sunday paper) has a $1 off any two coupon. You can match that with the SmartSource coupons from the last paper: there’s a 75 cent off two and $1 off two, depending on the flavor choice.

If you prefer Publix to Winn-Dixie, the green banner also has Annie’s mac and cheese and Chex Mix on BOGO. Those same coupons.com print-out coupons I mentioned earlier will work here, too.

All-purpose Lysol spray is also on BOGO, so you can save up to $3.99. Then there’s also a 50 cents off two manufacturer coupon for the SmartSource from July 22 Sunday paper.

I’ve said it before, but never pay full price for toothpaste. This week Publix has a good example as to why. Colgate toothpaste is on BOGO. There’s several manufacturer coupons floating around right now in the collection of fliers. Some are specific to type.

There’s 50 cents off of one in the most recent SmartSource that will work in the BOGO offer.

Outside the BOGO: There’s also $1 off any Colgate Optic White on coupons.com you can use with a $1 off Optic White from the Publix purple flier before it expires Friday. Ibotta also has a handful of rebates for Cologate toothpaste right now

If you’re an Ibotta user, there’s also a rebate for Brekki overnight oats at Publix for $3. It covers the cost of the product.

Walmart

And speaking of Ibotta, there are some good Walmart deals this week. If you’re wondering: "What’s an Ibotta?" It’s a rebate app. You scan receipts after purchases to prove you bought the products to cash in on rebates.

You’re essentially handing over data on your shopping habits for savings. I’m still a relatively new user, but I have had a positive experience so far.

SO Delcious Mousse is a new dairy-free ice cream product. It has Walmart Ibotta for $1.50 as well as a coupons.com print-out for $1.50 off. Combined, you’re getting this low-cal treat for about a buck.

If you’ve wanted to try Sally Hansen’s "Miracle Gel" nail polish, now is a good time. There’s a manufacturer coupon from last week that’s $3 off the gel polish. Ibotta will give you $2 back at Walmart. These can range from $5-7 full price.

Best way to save? to your Sunday Tampa Bay Times.
