Tampa’s Cigar City Brewing to sell its brews in Sweden, Finland and Norway

TAMPA — Swedes will soon have the chance to take a swig of Cigar City’s beloved IPA.

Cigar City Brewing on Thursday announced that a new partnership with a Swedish company will expand its beer sales throughout Scandinavia.

The Tampa brewery on W Spruce Street will now distribute its lagers and ales, from 12-ounce cans to kegs, through Stockholm’s Great Brands AB, a private importer and distributor.

"We couldn’t be more excited to distribute our beer full time to Sweden and other Scandinavian markets," Cigar City brand ambassador Neil Callaghan said in statement. "We’ve been lucky enough to brew beer with several Swedish breweries and attend Swedish beer festivals for many years."

Beer lovers in Sweden, Finland and Norway will be able to get a taste of Tampa brews such as the Jai Alai IPA and Guayabera Citra Pale Ale starting this month.

Already, Cigar City Brewing is part of "CANarchy," a craft brewery collective founded in 2015 that allowed a handful of craft brewers the to expand their sales without selling the businesses to a corporation.

Cigar City’s fellow collective partner, Oska Blues Brewery, will also enter the Swedish market.

The Swedish launch of the Cigar City beers will coincide with the 2018 Stockholm Beer and Whiskey festival starting Sept. 27.
