Burger King Corp. and Darden Restaurants Inc. are the only two Florida-based companies to make Black Enterprise magazine's list of the Top 40 Companies for Diversity. A cited strength at Orlando-based Darden, owner of Olive Garden and Red Lobster, was the diversity of its board. Miami-based Burger King was cited for its supplier diversity program and the percentage of ethnic minorities on the payroll. The 40 companies plan to fill 40,000 of 3 million job openings forecast nationally in 2009.
