TAMPA — Busch Gardens has partnered with International Plaza to create a new children's play area with animal characters, a train and a 14-foot-tall Cheetah Hunt tower.
The free play area will replace the Tampa Bay Rays Looney Tunes Ball Park on the first level. It will be under construction Sept. 14-19, with an opening date set for Sept. 20.
The area is described as offering a multisensory experience that highlights elements found at the theme park, including fabricated hippos, a baby elephant, baby lions, an alligator and a safari truck that kids can climb on. The area will also have a 70-inch TV showing footage of Busch Gardens.
"This is a great partnership, and as the Tampa Bay area's No. 1 family theme park, we're excited to bring a little bit of adventure into the community for all families to experience each and every day," said Busch Gardens Park president Jim Dean in a press release.
Busch Gardens also sponsored the play area at Westfield Brandon mall.
