BayWalk's new managers signed their first tenant to help revive the star-crossed entertainment center in downtown St. Petersburg.

It's hermanHome, a new retail home decor venture launched by St. Petersburg interior designer Ed Biggs and New York business partner Steve Herman. Biggs and Herman have furnished beach houses in the Hamptons and mansions in Europe.

Biggs, perhaps best known locally for his interior design work in the renovated Beacon condos in downtown St. Petersburg, was drawn to BayWalk by a ready market of empty downtown condos and apartments waiting to be furnished.

By buying direct from manufacturers, Biggs hopes to sell at lower prices, ranging from a $27 decorative glass vase to a $2,000 china cabinet. The store opens in early December in space once occupied by Being, which left BayWalk for more space.
