Gander Mountain offers 50,000 free trigger locks

TAMPA

Get free trigger lock at Gander Mountain

Gander Mountain, a sporting goods store devoted to the outdoors, is giving away 50,000 trigger locks at its 133 locations, including the Tampa store at 11655 W Hillsborough Ave.

The promotion runs today through Sunday while supplies last. The locks are limited to one per customer and are usable on any firearm. Customers must sign a pledge to secure their firearms.

The Minnesota retailer launched a pledge initiative last year online and through social media to encourage responsible firearms ownership. The company offers firearms safety classes and asks all customers who buy a gun if they are properly equipped to safeguard it.

The store is also offering discounts on large gun safes.

  5. Jeff Bezos tops Bill Gates as world's richest person — for now

    Corporate

A surge in Amazon.com Inc. shares Thursday morning in advance of the online retailer's earnings report has propelled founder Jeff Bezos past Bill Gates as the world's richest person, according to a Bloomberg report.

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, discusses his Blue Origin reusable rocket project in Colorado Springs in April. A bump in the price of Amazon shares in July of 2017 was enough to move Bezos above Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder, who has topped Forbes' billionaires list 18 out of the last 23 years.
