ST. PETERSBURG — The "Hot Now" sign will light up the dark sky over 9100 Fourth St. N at 6 a.m. Thursday when the new Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store opens. With the recent closing of the Palm Harbor location, this will be the only place to get those hot, glazed, melt-on-your-tongue doughnuts in Pinellas County.
The first customer in line will receive a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts once a week for a year. The second to 50th customers in line receive a free dozen each month for a year.
The first five cars through the drive-through also get a free dozen each month. (Only one prize awarded per car so no need to drag Grandma out of bed.)
Around the world, Krispy Kreme's cult-like following has lured customers to new stores two and three days prior to openings to celebrate the event.
