The Super Bowl means Beef O'Brady's is poised to fry up a record 2-million wings on game day and an army of camera-bearing media will descend on Tampa Bay in search of something, anything, to report the week before. So, borrowing a slow-news-day cue from the White House, Beef's chief executive, Vic Vojnovic, will oblige: He's staging a media event at 10:30 a.m. Friday to officially pardon a chicken. The Tampa chain of 263 sports bars will award the Davis Islands owners of a hen named Loretta with a year's worth of chicken feed at the store at 2819 S MacDill in Tampa. Not that Loretta, a 4-year-old breeding hen that lays blue-green eggs, actually needs saving. Broilers that give up their wings typically are fewer than 45 days old. "Loretta is an upscale chicken worthy of pardon," Vojnovic joked.
