The owners of Rollin' Oats Market in St. Petersburg have acquired Nature's Harvest Natural Foods Market in South Tampa out of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding for about $1.8-million.
The new owners will rebrand the business as Rollin' Oats and make a major interior overhaul to the 15,000-square-foot store at 1021 N MacDill Ave.
From a peak of $6-million in annual business, Nature's Harvest took a big hit with the arrival of Fresh Market and what's now a Whole Foods Natural Market within 2 miles. Sales slumped to $3-million in 2007.
"We think we can bring the business back with aggressive pricing," said Bert Swain, the third generation of a St. Petersburg family of food brokers who owns Rollin' Oats in a partnership with Larry Schwartz.
