albertsons shedding 1,300 Fla. Jobs
Albertsons LLC, which five years ago operated more than 100 supermarkets in Florida, is closing 13 of its 17 stores left in the Sunshine State, wiping out about 1,300 jobs. Liquidation sales start May 9 at the Valrico store, the only one of the closings in the bay area. About 60 people who work at the company's distribution center in Plant City also are losing their jobs. Two of the last four Albertsons stores in Florida that remain profitable and will stay open are in Clearwater and Largo.
