Performance Bicycle opens first Tampa Bay location

TAMPA — Performance Bicycle, a nationwide retailer of bikes and cycling accessories, has opened the Tampa Bay area's first location and Florida's second.

The store at 625 N Dale Mabry Highway in South Tampa opened Thursday and will have grand opening promotions through Sunday, including up to 60 percent off doorbuster deals. Customers who arrive before 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday will receive $20 store gift cards, and anyone who signs up for the email list will receive 20 percent off their next purchase of $200 or less.

Performance Bicycle was founded in Chapel Hill, N.C., in 1982 and operated primarily as a catalog and Internet business. It now has more than 100 locations in 19 states. Known for its wide selection of products and Spin Doctor riding clinics, the chain also has a store in Fort Lauderdale. Others are planned for Boca Raton, Jacksonville and Winter Park.
