Publix Super Markets is selling Pix, the fuel and convenience store concept it began testing in 2001.
The Lakeland grocery chain has 14 Pix stores in Publix-anchored shopping centers in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee, including one at 10809 Starkey Road in Seminole.
Circle K will buy all of the stores except the one in Tennessee, which will be acquired by Max Arnold & Sons. Publix chief executive officer Ed Crenshaw said the sale allows the company to "remain passionately focused on our core business, our customers and the products and services we offer within our grocery retail environment."
Publix will help the 120 Pix employees find jobs elsewhere within the company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
