TAMPA — A sushi restaurant and ice cream shop are on tap to join the Armature Works' Heights Public Market near downtown Tampa.
Zukku, a restaurant concept by former Ocean Prime sushi chef, Gia Tran, will allow customers to build their own sushi burrito or poke bowl in the Heights Market, according to a press release. Astro Ice Cream Co. will serve fresh, made to order ice cream that is flash-frozen in liquid nitrogen. The ice cream vendor stall won't have a freezer on site.
Both Zukku Sushi and Astro Ice Cream Co. are joint ventures of Monica Varne and Ferdian Jap, who are partners at Tampa's Big City Events, chef Gia Tran, and investor Tony Nguyen.
The Heights Public Market is slated to open inside the historic Armature Works building this summer. The 70,000-square-foot former trolley car barn is being repurposed as a market with event space, sit-down restaurants, a shared workspace and a rooftop social area.
