Wawa stores to start building

Wawa stores, the high volume gas stations that each sells $5 million in groceries and take-out food annually, are about to start popping up all over. The Philadelphia-area chain breaks ground May 6 for its first bay area store on Gandy Boulevard at Grand Avenue in Pinellas Park. It's slated to open in February, followed by others later that month at Fowler Avenue and 30th Street in Tampa, and in Pasco County on U.S 19 at Richey Drive in Port Richey, on Little Road at Ridge Road and on U.S. 19 at State Route 54. The chain has 10 more bay area sites lined up to open one a month through 2013.
