Winn-Dixie, Walgreens to offer month supply of prescription drugs for newly insured

Two retailers are offering customers newly insured under the Affordable Care Act a 30-day supply of most prescription drugs at no up-front cost until the end of January.

Winn-Dixie announced Wednesday that the grocery store chain is providing the service to people who enrolled in the public Health Insurance Marketplace but haven't received their plan identification cards.

Walgreens started a similar policy Jan. 1.

Winn-Dixie pharmacies will continue to submit and process the claims until verification of coverage is received. Customers will be contacted once coverage is confirmed.

People should bring confirmation of their health benefits enrollment to their local Winn-Dixie and Walgreens stores.
