A hamburger chain opening another outlet in suburbia typically doesn't draw much attention, but it catches the eye when the new interior features an eye-catching design.
The new Wendy's at 13119 U.S. 301 opened to some fanfare last week because it is one of the first in the nation to feature the chain's new ultra-modern design. Inspired by the famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the interior features private booths, cozy lounge seating, a Wi-Fi bar and a fireplace.
The new store also features menu items that can only be found in new-design Wendy's, including fresh-baked goods such as chocolate chunk cookies, oatmeal bars, Cinna-middle, an Oreo brownie and Redhead Roasters coffee and iced coffees.
The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce helped open the new Wendy's with a special event that featured the East Bay High School girls basketball team serving diners, with proceeds going to the school.
