In June, real estate developers Paradise Ventures began construction at the Shoppes of South Dale to provide the South Tampa community with new restaurant, workout and salon options.
"We're excited to be near completion. It's a center we are proud of and we are excited how the lineup came together," said Chris Zimmerman, head of acquisitions and development.
On Oct. 8, Crunch Fitness was the center's first tenant to open.
"It's all about the experience," said Geoff Dyer, president of Crunch Fitness West Florida and Atlanta. "We have a strong focus on functional training areas and equipment you wouldn't find in commercial gyms. We have a high value for a low price."
Though the gym already offers reasonable memberships, there will be savings available throughout October in celebration of its grand opening.
"Crunch is the fastest-growing fitness brand in the United States and we strive to be convenient to residents at home or at work, so Shoppes of South Dale is the perfect location for us," Dyer said.
Dyer's experience comes from having the brand Lifestyle Family Fitness. He has been president of Crunch Fitness West Florida and Atlanta for the past 2 1/2 years.

The temptation of tacos and burritos may make it harder to hit the gym, or be just the motivation you need to work off extra calories to enjoy some queso and chips.
Either way, Tijuana Flats is another addition to the strip, serving a Tex-Mex menu.
"Guest service makes us stand out," said Steve Fischer, general manager and managing partner. "We take one guest at a time, and customers feel the vibrant culture when they first walk in."
The signature hot sauce bar, offering 16 to 20 flavors, bright lights, colors and loud music will fill the South Tampa location, as they do in others.
"It's not necessarily the food, even though the food is great, with high standards and the best quality, but it's our people that separates us from other restaurants," Fischer said.
The new location sits across from another, larger shopping center, Britton Plaza.
"It's definitely a growing area," Fischer said. "The Shoppes of South Dale is an expansion of Britton Plaza."
Tijuana Flats will host a grand opening on Halloween with specials running the entire week, from Oct. 31 through Nov. 6.
"The specials are not out yet, but we will definitely have a Taco Tuesday," Fischer said. "Thursday will be throwback, then we will probably have a first responder day, maybe a teacher day."
Opening hours for the new location at 4027 S Dale Mabry Highway will be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

Almost one month later, Hair Cuttery will open their doors in space 4301.
"We're a full-service, family-based company," said manager Brittani Jones. "What sets us apart is that we are independently owned."
The first salon opened in Virginia in 1974.
"Hair Cuttery started over dinner where the owners, Dennis and Ann Ratner started brainstorming the brand on a napkin," Jones said.
There are currently 30 locations, with Tampa as the newest market.
"It's high-end but a little bit more affordable," Jones said. "We offer everything except nails."
A grand opening is projected for Nov. 20, but that date is not set in stone.
For the first few weeks of the opening, they will run a special offer for 50 percent off of color services or haircuts.
Stay up-to-date on the grand opening by visiting haircuttery.com.
Pizza Hut, Jeremiah's Italian Ice, a Wells Fargo ATM, Buffalo Wild Wings, Another Broken Egg Cafe and Smashburger complete the new shopping center's lineup.
"Most should be open within the next few months, but Buffalo Wild Wings probably won't open until next year," Zimmerman said.
