Sykes Enterprises, the Tampa customer service outsourcing company, on Monday reported third-quarter earnings of $19.5-million, up 59 percent from the year earlier. Per-share earnings rose to 47 cents, an increase of 57 percent. Revenue increased 17.6 percent to $207.1-million, compared with the third quarter of 2007. Revenue growth from operations in North America and offshore in Latin America and the Asia Pacific region came largely from clients in financial services, communications, transportation and technology. The company increased its per-share outlook for 2008 to a range of $1.59 to $1.61.
SRI Surgical reports smaller third-quarter loss: The Tampa surgical device company posted a third-quarter loss of $173,000, or 3 cents per share. That compared with a loss of $645,000, or 10 cents per share, for the year-earlier quarter. Revenue for the quarter was $24-million, or 3.5 percent higher than the third quarter of 2007.
