TAMPA — WellCare Health Plans Inc. laid off 87 employees Friday as part of a restructuring. Job cuts hit workers across the country, spokeswoman Amy Knapp said. She couldn't say how many employees lost jobs in the Tampa Bay area. Meanwhile, WellCare has created 64 new positions, she said. "Today's changes reflect our company's focus on achieving administrative efficiencies and investing in our future," the company said in a statement. In May 2009, the managed-care company slashed 350 jobs, about 9 percent of its work force, as it reduced certain business lines.
