Harry Schearer's voice missing from Universak Studio's The Simpsons ride

If the newly opened Simpsons ride at Universal Studios Florida seems a few characters shy of a full load, it's because Harry Shearer didn't participate. That wiped out the voices for 21 Simpsons' TV show characters, including Smithers, Ned Flanders, Rev. Lovejoy and nuke plant owner Mr. Burns. Universal isn't talking, except to confirm the comic/author could not be signed. Some theme park blogs claim Shearer's absence prodded Universal to rewrite the original script for what was code-named Project Fish (after Blinky, a three-eyed orange mutant from the show). Shearer's absence did not stop Scratchy. The cartoon cat appears and is brutalized, but has no lines.
