DisneyQuest — a landmark of Downtown Disney for 17 years — will close next year to make room for an NBA attraction, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting.

DisneyQuest featured video and virtual games in a five-story center at the district's west side. Opened in 1998, the feature felt old and dated and thus went the way of the answering machine and the beeper.

Chris Fouche, 37, told the Sentinel he was "blown away" by the attraction when it first opened. When he took his 5-year-old daughter last year, however, not so much.

"Now, it seems really stupid and really cheesy," Fouche told the newspaper. "I have more power in my phone than in that whole building. But back then, it was a trip."

The NBA attraction will include "high-tech experiences," a restaurant and a store, the Sentinel reported.
