Waste Pro USA of Longwood acquires St. Pete Recycling Solutions

Waste Pro USA of Longwood has acquired St. Pete Recycling Solutions, the only curbside recycling service in St. Petersburg.

Waste Pro said it purchased the business in May to launch its start in Pinellas County. Waste Pro operates in 25 other Florida markets and also in Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama.

Recycling will be mandatory in Pinellas County starting next year with the help of private waste contractors.

St. Pete Recycling had a customer base of more than 1,000 in St. Petersburg, including the Salvador Dali Museum and Starbucks. Founder Greg Foster, 24, was hired by Waste Pro as its business development coordinator.

The private waste management company plans to offer its services when Pinellas advertises an invitation to bid in the fall.
