More than 50 employers and upward of 1,000 job seekers are expected at a job fair next week at the Coliseum in downtown St. Petersburg.
The event at 535 Fourth Ave. N. will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.
"Tampa Bay's economy is improving and employment is up, but many of our neighbors are in search of opportunities," said U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, who is co-hosting the job fair with the city of St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance and WorkNet Pinellas.
As of December, Tampa Bay's unemployment rate stood at 7.9 percent, down sharply from the year-ago rate of 10.1 percent but still far above levels signifying a healthy economy.
This is the second annual job and community resource fair coordinated by Castor. More than 1,200 attended last year's gathering in Tampa.
