PALMA CEIA — The new Remedies Coffee Bar located in Palma Ceia Health Mart Pharmacy is a modern take on old-fashioned soda fountains.
"It used to be typical to have a soda fountain in the pharmacy," said co-owner Lydia Brassington.
Remedies also will offer sodas so customers can grab one during their pharmacy trip, a tradition that dates back to the late 1800s. Italian sodas to be exact, since both Brassington and her co-owner/brother-in-law, Brad Esposito, are Italian.
Esposito opened South Tampa's Palma Ceia Pharmacy six years ago.
"It's a community pharmacy," Brassington said. "His prices are pretty much the same if not better than Walmart and Sam's Club. They offer free local delivery to all South Tampa, every day. Brad really knows his customers and can be more flexible."
Since opening the pharmacy, his plan was always to include a coffee shop.
Now, it has finally came to fruition and he was able to include family.
Customers can stop by the coffee shop on their way to work or while they wait to pick up their prescription.
They can choose from a variety of Cafe Umbria brewed coffees, milkshakes made with organic milk, plus bagels and cornettis which are the Italian version of croissants.
Remedies Coffee Bar officially opened on Oct. 10 at 2506 S MacDill Ave. Call (813) 324-5663 or visit facebook.com/remediescoffee for more information.
