CLEARWATER — Terry Bollea, a.k.a. Hulk Hogan, will reimburse his wife for the cost of the couple's maintenance man going back to Dec. 19 and the divorcing couple will work out a compromise over how to use the maintenance man's time.
That's what transpired in Pinellas Circuit Court proceedings Thursday.
The subject of the latest tug-of-war in the divorce case was maintenance worker George Cruz, who services the family's two homes.
Cruz makes $1,400 a week.
In a temporary divorce settlement in August, Hulk agreed to pay the salaries of Cruz and the couple's housekeeper. But Linda Bollea, Hulk's soon-to-be ex-wife, said that Hulk was using Cruz to spy on her. She said Cruz didn't want to work for Hulk anymore and that when Hulk found out, he decided to stop paying Cruz.
That led to an emergency motion being filed Dec. 30 by Linda to get the court to force Hulk to pay the workers' salaries.
Hulk's attorneys said Cruz has always worked on both houses: Linda's mansion on Willadel Drive and Hulk's house on Clearwater Beach.
In court, Hulk agreed he would pay Cruz for any extra work — moving belongings, walking dogs — that goes beyond his normal requirements.
When the possibility came up of holding another hearing about the maintenance man, Judge George W. Greer asked Linda's attorney Stephen Thacker:
"You want us to get out a howitzer to kill a gnat?"
