Judge allows battle over big store to go on

The legal battle between Hillsborough County and residents over a proposed big-box retail development in Valrico will continue after a judge denied the county's motion to toss the lawsuit Monday.

The suit centers around a 2011 amendment to the land development code that changed the property from a traditional neighborhood development to a mixed-use development.

The site is on E Bloomingdale Avenue with frontage on Lithia Pinecrest Road.
