Court disbars Wesley Chapel lawyer accused of 'dishonest conduct' involving brother's assets

WESLEY CHAPEL — The Florida Supreme Court has disbarred a Wesley Chapel lawyer accused of "dishonest conduct" involving the assets of her developmentally disabled brother.

The Florida Bar said Denise Letizia used an invalid power of attorney to withdraw more than $100,000 from bank accounts bearing her brother's name.

"She also demonstrated a pattern of misconduct regarding the representation of her brother and in the subsequent disciplinary proceedings," the Florida Bar said.

The Supreme Court approved an order Aug. 10 giving Letizia 30 days to close up her practice before she was disbarred. She was admitted to practice in 1993.
