Bail set for Temple Terrace parents accused of child abuse

TEMPLE TERRACE — A Hillsborough County judge set bail Thursday for the Temple Terrace parents arrested this week and accused of forcing their 10-year-old daughter to run laps and keeping their infant son in a closet.

William, 33, and Suzanne, 31, Frederick were arrested Tuesday night after a neighbor in their apartment complex called 911 when he found the girl barefoot and drenched in the rain.

Officers interviewed the girl and her parents. According to arrest reports, the couple forced their daughter to run about 30 laps every day without anything to drink. They made her stand on one foot while holding a 5-pound weight for about an hour. She was forced to do 50 pushups. She slept on the floor. Her 6-month-old brother slept in a playpen inside a closet with no air conditioning vent in the master bedroom.

William Frederick's bail was set at $1,500, and his wife's was set at $1,000. They were both still at the Hillsborough County Jail on Friday morning, records show.
