Pasco corrections officer fired amid identity theft charges

TAMPA — The state says a correctional officer working in Pasco County has lost his job over federal charges that he used prisoner identities to file fraudulent IRS claims for tax refunds.

Jerry St. Fleur, 26, earned $32,198 a year at the Zephyrhills Correctional Institution, where he had worked since 2007, according to Department of Corrections spokeswoman Jessica Cary.

A federal indictment unsealed Tuesday alleged that St. Fleur filed five claims totaling $14,274 using the names, birth dates and Social Security numbers of inmates.
